RO, UF or UV: Which Water Purifier Is Right For You?

RO water purifiers

UF water purifiers

RO vs UV water purifiers

In RO water purifiers, the RO membrane is capable of removing the virus and germs, present in water by the filtration of living organisms. Apart from this, the filtering holes located in the RO membrane are really small and it helps in the removal of dissolved salts.

In the UV water purifier, germs and different living organisms are removed physically and killed with the powerful UV light of these water purifiers. The UV lamp can kill the germs, however, the bodies of dead germs are going to be present in water. For the proper working of UV purifiers, UV light is capable of travelling via the water for killing germs. Hence, it is crucial that the water of the purifiers should be crystal clear so that the UV rays should not be blocked. The surface of a UV bulb should not have the deposit of algae or dirt. The issue is that in case the ultraviolet light is kept off for a certain duration of time, the algae will be formed on the UV bulb’s surface, thereby reducing the killing power.

RO vs UF water purifiers

UF and RO are membranes. It is the size of the filtering holes of the water purifiers that bring the difference. In the case of the RO membranes, the filtering holes will be really small and they are capable of filtering out the salt molecules, present in water. In the UF membranes, holes are known to be large and they have the capability of filtering the salt molecules out. The UF membrane filtering holes are small in size in comparison to the viruses. The benefit of using UF water purifiers is that it functions without electricity. It ensures to filter of the germs of different diseases. The UF membranes are really small and thus they have the capability of filtering dust as well as other particles, thereby making water safe for drinking.

The only issue with the UF water purifier is that if harmful dissolved salts are present in water, it is not possible to filter out the same. RO water purifiers can filter the harmful dissolved salts out of water. Hence, it can be said that the RO water purifier is the best type of water purifier.
